USA Cricket has parted ways with Stuart Law, who had been leading the men’s national team. The decision came during the team’s ongoing Cricket World Cup League 2 campaign.
USA Cricket announced that Stuart Law is no longer the head coach of the men’s cricket team. The organization did not share the exact reason for his departure, but CEO Johnathan Atkeison acknowledged that “it was not an easy decision to make.” The news broke just before the team’s match against Nepal in Dallas, in the middle of their World Cup League 2 campaign.
A Short-Lived Tenure
Law took over as the head coach in April, but his stint lasted just over seven months. During his time, the team made some notable achievements, including a historic T20I series win against Bangladesh and advancing to the Super-Eights stage of the T20 World Cup for the first time. USA’s journey in the T20 World Cup, which they co-hosted with the West Indies, saw them defeat Canada and even claim a significant victory over Pakistan.
“A Tough Call,” Says USA Cricket
According to Atkeison, it was a difficult decision to part ways with Law. “Given Stuart’s contribution to the program, this was not an easy decision,” he said in a press release. “However, we felt it was necessary to make a change as we prepare for the next phase of competition.”
USA Cricket Looks Forward
Venu Pisike, the Chair of USA Cricket, expressed gratitude for Law’s efforts, saying, “We thank Stuart for his contributions to USA Cricket during his tenure. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Currently, the USA team is performing well in the Cricket World Cup League 2, sitting in second place on the points table with six wins in nine matches. The team is aiming for qualification in the 2027 ODI World Cup.
