Akeal Hosein Becomes No.1 T20I Bowler

West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein has climbed to the top of the ICC T20I bowling rankings following his stellar performance against Bangladesh in the opening game of their T20I series. Hosein picked up 2 for 13 in the thrilling encounter in St. Vincent, jumping three spots in the rankings to surpass prominent spinners like Adil Rashid, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Adam Zampa.

This achievement solidifies Hosein’s position as a key player in West Indies’ T20I setup and highlights his consistent ability to perform under pressure.

Babar Azam Climbs, Reeza Hendricks Shines

In the latest T20I batting rankings:

  • Babar Azam advanced to sixth place, showcasing his steady form in the shortest format.
  • Mohammad Rizwan, however, dropped from sixth to eighth following the series in South Africa.
  • South African opener Reeza Hendricks broke into the top 10 for the first time, moving up six places to ninth after his sensational 117 off 63 balls in the second T20I against Pakistan.

Joe Root Reclaims Top Spot in Test Batting Rankings

England’s Joe Root has returned to the No.1 position in the ICC Test batting rankings, displacing teammate Harry Brook. Root’s scores of 32 and 54 in England’s loss to New Zealand in Hamilton helped him regain the crown just a week after Brook had taken it.

Brook’s form dipped in the same match, with scores of 0 and 1, pushing him back to the second spot.

Kane Williamson Closes the Gap

New Zealand’s veteran batter Kane Williamson remains in third place but has narrowed the gap to Root. With an impressive 156 in Tim Southee’s farewell Test, Williamson showcased his enduring class, closing within 28 points of Root’s 895 rating points.

Movements in Test Bowling and Allrounder Rankings

  • Matt Henry (New Zealand) rose to seventh among Test bowlers after his impressive figures of 4 for 48 and 2 for 62 in the Hamilton Test.
  • England’s Gus Atkinson climbed to eighth in the Test allrounder rankings following his performance with both bat and ball, including scores of 43 and 4 and a four-wicket haul in the third Test.
